Using Multi-account




If multi-account is set in the Account settings window, some different case is expected. In this chapter, we introduce general usage of multi-account.




15-1.Multi-account for single user

If you have multiple e-mail account, you can register all of your accounts and switch them by checking each account. This helps you to use accounts conveniently for different purpose.

15-2-1.With Multiple Internet service provider

There are some ways for multiple users to use different access points and e-mail accounts in this case.

Using location Manager
 
You can set different Internet control panel settings using the location Manager control panel. As for Magellan, make copy of Magellan folder and name different name for each Internet settings. Users first switch to own location setting, and open own Magellan folder. To lock the account setting of Magellan will helps you not to open other's Magellan folder.
Using Multi-user setting of MacOS 9

You can set different passwords to MacOS. Usage is as same as the Location Manager control panel.






15-2-2.Sharing single e-mail account

If you are sharing single e-mail account with your family, refer to the following instruction.


 Adding pop3 account
 
Ask your ISP about optional e-mail account first. Many Internet service providers has additional account service for your family or SOHO users. In most case it is more cost effective than adding new contract. If you have got optional e-mail account, the setting is as same as above multi-user setting.

 Free e-mail

Even the account of your Internet Service Provider is single, you can get free e-mail accounts on the web.

Following instruction is about using free e-mail accounts.

1. Before had, get free e-mail account on the web for your family.

2.First, set your account of Internet Service provider's on Magellan.

3.Make copy of your Magellan folder for your family.

4.Open the new copy of Magellan and select Account from the file menu. Then, click the Add button to set your family's free e-mail account.

5.To lock the account, see the following picture.

Notice
1. Some of free e-mail account is unavailable on Magellan. If it does not work, try other free e-mail account.

2. Above usage of Magellan is only on single computer. If you want to use Magellan on multiple computers, purchase another Magellan serial number.




15-3. Notices in use of multi-account

When you have got multiple e-mail account, note the following points.




15-3.1 Contract with single Internet Service Provider (Other e-mail account is free e-mail.)

Because free e-mail is usually accessed through other Internet Service Providers, any problems concerning access seldom be caused.




15-3.2 Access through multiple access points of multiple internet service providers.

Most of internet service providers prohibits access through other internet service provider to prevent abuse or relaying of e-mail. As you cannot use plural e-mail accounts of different internet service providers at the same time, read the following instruction.

1. Set your most frequent account as the default account.
2. If you want to send e-mail from other account, switch the From Pop-up menu.
3. Switching the entire access and account, use the Location manager.

Some internet service providers allow e-mail receiving only through other internet service providers. APOP often allows access through other access points. Ask your internet service provider about details of accessing and e-mail.
